Reflection on Christmas Services

This past weekend was a great weekend. We had such an amazing energy at Grace Place. The worship was incredible, the fellowship was fantastic and the results were AWESOME. I spent the bulk of yesterday very excited and amazed at what God did. I was awake late reflecting and thinking about the results of the Word of God yesterday.

Here's my summation.....We were studying in Luke 2:1-20. It is the all familiar text of Jesus' birth. You know, the one with the manger, the shepherds and the angels. We have all heard it so many times. Here's the deal though, we approached it from a slightly different angle. We talked about the greatness of the story and the awe it creates. But, we talked about the reality that we needed that event. We needed a savior to save us. We stopped to recognize the depravity of our human nature and the fact that we are not good enough to make it to heaven. We talked about the idea that Jesus came to save us because of that alone. He did not come because we are just "so wonderful" he wanted to be here. We re-adjusted to recognize that the gospel is not about us, but about Jesus.

After coming face-to-face with the true reality of the Gospel, the human heart has not choice but to be convicted. The human heart has no choice but to worship the Savior! That is what happened. Lives were changed forever and and we worshipped like never before.

What a great week. I am looking forward to what God is going to do in 2009 at Grace Place!
