Leadership Pain (pt1)

I want to share something with you that God is teaching me on a whole new level in my life lately!

An effective leader needs to step into the purposeful pain. I talking about the pain that will help you develop, grow and be refined as a leader. I want to spend a few days on this topic together.......

Here are some key things that I am learning about pain in leadership:

  • If we are not willing to step into the pain of leadership willingly we will miss out on God’s greatest for us, our ministry and the Kingdom.
  • The difference between where you are and the place God wants you to be is the pain you are unwilling to endure.
  • The measure of your potential is about the level of pain you are willing to endure. With great growth & influence comes great pain.

As leaders I think we have to evaluate pain. I think, out of our own preferences and comfort levels, we often avoid all pain at all cost. We tend to assume because something is tough, or hurts, we shouldn't walk through it. It's much like working out. We will never see the results of a good workout if our intent is t avoid pain. My body becomes stronger and more capable if I endure the pain of working out! The same is true as a leader.

So stop and ask yourself, Is the pain I am going to experience something that can help me develop, grow and be refined as a leader in anyway. If the answer is yes....then man up and walk it out! It's in this sort of pain that great leaders are born.
