"But Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." Matthew 19:26
This verse has been running through my mind all week. I have needed it. God has called me to do something that seems virtually impossible...and in all honesty, my insecurity keeps telling me there is no way I can do it. But, then I read this voice and realize it's not my insecurity telling me it is impossible....It is the words of Jesus!
Pastors, leaders and faithful men & women often feel this weight! We set out to accomplish great things that God has revelaed to us and our hearts...But, to the world they seem impossible. And, when we start viewing things from the world's perspective...they are often impossible. If we look at things from the world's perspective too long, we begin to believe it! Then we start trying in our power to get things done and defend the vision God has given to us!
If it is God's vision given to me, then He will guard His reputation around that vision. God is big enough to take care of things Himself! If I am trying to do the things God has called me to all on my own...it really is impossible. But, if I am relying on God to do it, then nothing is impossible.
God specializes in the "it can't be done" category!
Here's a few examples:
Moses parting the Red Sea, the walls of Jericho falling, making the sun stand still for Joshua, raising Lazarus from the dead, feeding thousands with a sack lunch on a hillside, healing the lepers, restoring sight to the blind, causing lame people to walk and of course Jesus raising from the dead.
I'd say He's pretty good at this stuff! So, when I am feeling the weight of the impossible...I have to carefully examine whether ot not I am leaning into God to get it done...or if I am trying to do it on my own! If I want to see the impossible happen, then I MUST let God handle it!
