For the next 25 days I want you, my readers and Uncommon Church, to set your focus on the concept of Gratitude. Join me every day until Christmas for a special series simply called Gratitude!
We have to start with a GRATITUDE of who God created us to be!
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6 ESV
There is a BIG Question I am often asked..... How can I be of service to others when I am not complete and whole myself?
The reality is that all of us are wounded healers. To be a growing person is to be in touch with one's pain and to be aware of one's hangups. As finite human beings, our becoming is always in process, always incomplete. The "unfinishedness" of our own growth will interfere with our facilitating growth in others only if we are unaware of it or pretend to ourselves and others that we "have it made." Our pain and unfinished growth will be either a bridge or a barrier to the pain and unfinished growth of others.
Your most precious asset is your authentic imperfect self. For people whose growth has been diminished by inauthentic relating, your being there with caring, as yourself, with your imperfections, is what they need to awaken the growth strivings in them.
So, start by telling God you are grateful for just who He has created you to be!
