Gratitude Day 5

Your gratitude will grow when you realize that the Gospel is NOT some sort of Cinderella story!

I love this quote from my friend Scotty Smith "The gospel is NOT a Cinderella story... love given to the deserving. In the gospel, the Prince dies to make the mean stepmother and the mean step-sisters his Bride... love lavished on the ill-deserving."

God came to offer us something we truly do not, and did not deserve. That is a truly sacrificial gift that changes everything. I don't know if you have ever received anything that you did not deserve. But those are the gifts that means the most.

Far too often I think we don't appreciate the Gospel enough. I think we have too much entitlement in regards to what God "owes" us. We think that if we simply say we believe, go to church and talk about God from time to time, He should be required to save us. But, measure those few moments against the remaining time in your life. The good, the bad and the ugly! When you stand in front of the mirror, can you honestly say that you deserve for someone to send their son to die for you, and save you for a GREATER purpose, just the way you are?

For me the answer is NO! But God did it anyway. He wasn't concerned about my state of being. All He cared about was simply me!

But God put his love on the line for us by offering his Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to him. Romans 5:8 MSG

Take a few minutes and thank God for the gift that you and I have never deserved!
