Simplicity & Bullsh*t

I believe without exception that we have complicated the process of following Jesus. Religion has added rules, regulations and requirements that make it seem difficult and even impossible. To me, there is so much power to Jesus' Words when He said we should have the faith of a child. (Mark 10:15) We seem to loose this in our pursuit of Jesus. Sunday I was reminded about the power of a child's perspective.

A few years ago I was in the classroom with our 4 & 5 year olds, saying hello to my boys. This was in the church I used to pastor in Tennessee. The volunteers that were leading had a child in there as well. They shared with me that their 5 year old said something to them that was awesome, but they couldn't share in the classroom with other kids. So, about 2:30 in the afternoon I got a text message with their son's words. Get ready for this......

"I'm gonna be a pastor when I grow up. I'm gonna tell all the people that come to my church that the devil and sin is just a bunch of bullsh*t and just don't do it!"

I think if we would have just a bit of this perspective, our pursuit of Jesus would be so much better. We would stay away from the very things that hold us back. James 4:7 "So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper." It just amazes me that God uses a 5 year old to remind me of a simple truth.

Just for the record....His mom did tell him that was great..but we shouldn't say bullish*t!
